Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to code hospital inpatient accounts under supervision of the Manager of Coding and Data Quality. Responsibilities include ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for reimbursement, research, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires one year inpatient acute care coding experience or two years outpatient, CCS/CIC/CPC/RHIT/RHIA credentials, and strong attention to detail. Collaboration with medical staff and CDIS is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
• Familiar with basic medical terminology and computer experience.
• Compliance with HIPAA and coding guidelines; knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Query providers when needed and coordinate with CDIS for clinical queries.
• Code and abstract records within established timeframes; maintain accuracy to prevent denials.
• Review medical records to extract information for code assignments and communicate with hospital departments.
