Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient accounts under the supervision of the Manager of Coding and Data Quality. The role focuses on ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for appropriate reimbursement, research, and regulatory compliance.

You will query clinicians, manage coding queues, and ensure high accuracy to prevent denials, while collaborating with various hospital departments. Ongoing education and DRG review are part of the job."

Qualifications

• Proficient in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient accounts.
• Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and AHIMA standards.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Query providers and coordinate with CDIS for clinical documentation issues.
• Monitor daily work queues and complete coding within established timeframes.
• Maintain high accuracy to prevent claim denials and errors.
• Review medical records to extract information for code assignments.
• Communicate billing and registration issues with hospital departments.
• Comply with AHIMA standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Use coding references, software tools, and EHR to assign codes.
• Participate in ongoing education and DRG mismatch meetings.
