Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient accounts under supervision. You will focus on ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for appropriate reimbursement, research and regulatory compliance.

You will query providers, review documentation, and ensure accurate DRG/MCC/CC and SOI assignments while adhering to HIPAA and AHIMA standards. Collaboration with clinical staff and CDIS is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; ICD-10-CM and CPT training required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certification in coding (CCS/CIC/CPC/RHIT/RHIA) encouraged; CCS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes and PCS procedures for accurate reimbursement and compliance.
• Query providers on documentation gaps and coordinate with clinical staff as needed.
• Maintain timely coding and abstracting within defined work queues.
• Ensure high accuracy to prevent denials and support compliant billing.
• Review records to extract information for code assignments and DRG/APR-DRG classification.
• Communicate billing issues with hospital departments and management.
• Follow AHIMA ethics and HIPAA regulations; use EHR and coding references.
• Participate in ongoing education and DRG mismatch review meetings.
