Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for hospital inpatient accounts, supporting appropriate reimbursement, research, and regulatory compliance.

Under supervision of the Manager of Coding and Data Quality, you will query providers, review records, and collaborate with CDIS and clinical staff to ensure timely, compliant coding that minimizes denials while upholding AHIMA and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• Completes inpatient coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS for hospital stays.
• Ensures accurate MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments and compliant coding.
• Follows AHIMA and HIPAA guidelines in daily work.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Query providers on documentation as needed and coordinate with CDIS.
• Monitor work queues to code within established timeframes.
• Maintain high accuracy to prevent claim denials and legal risk.
• Review medical records to extract information for coding.
• Communicate with hospital departments to resolve billing issues.
• Follow coding standards and use EHR tools for assignments.
• Participate in ongoing education and certification programs.
