Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder responsible for accurately coding hospital inpatient accounts to ensure appropriate reimbursement, research, and compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS classifications.

Under supervision of the Manager of Coding and Data Quality, you will query providers, review records, and collaborate with clinical staff to resolve documentation issues while maintaining high accuracy and adherence to AHIMA and HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

• Formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training.
• Minimum 1 year inpatient acute care coding or 2 years outpatient coding.
• CCS/CIC/CPC/RHIT/RHIA credential preferred; must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodologies and HIPAA guidelines.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient cases and assign ICD-10/PCS codes for reimbursement and compliance.
• Consult with medical staff and CDIS for documentation issues.
• Monitor daily workflow to meet timeframes and code within queues.
• Maintain high accuracy to prevent denials and errors.
• Review records to extract information for codes and DRG assignments.
• Communicate with departments about billing and registration issues.
• adhere to AHIMA standards and privacy regulations.
• Utilize EHRs and coding tools, participate in ongoing education and DRG reviews.
