Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking an Inpatient Medical Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient accounts under supervision for proper reimbursement, research, and compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCs systems.

The role emphasizes high accuracy, clinical documentation queries, and collaboration with hospital departments to prevent denials while complying with AHIMA and HIPAA standards. Training and ongoing education are included.

Formación

• High School graduate or equivalent. Formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of inpatient acute care coding experience or two (2) years of acute care outpatient coding experience required.
• Candidates must possess a CCS, CIC, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA credential; CCS preferred and must be obtained within one year of employment.

Responsabilidades

• Analyzes inpatient cases and assigns ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS procedural codes for reimbursement, research, and compliance.
• Queries providers and communicates with CDIS for clinical queries.
• Monitors daily work to meet timeframes and codes abstracts records accordingly.
• Maintains high accuracy to prevent denials and errors; receives feedback on metrics.
• Reviews medical records to extract information for code assignments.
• Communicates with hospital departments regarding billing and registration issues.
• Adheres to AHIMA ethical coding and HIPAA regulations.
• Utilizes coding references, software, and EHRs for accurate coding.
• Participates in ongoing education and DRG mismatch review meetings.
