Job summary

Non-exempt, with opportunities to participate in physician queries and education sessions, ensuring high-quality data and timely coding for hospital workflows.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in CAHIIM accredited program or additional experience in lieu of degree.
• One year of inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist coding programs.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters in the EHR.
• Query physicians to obtain or clarify diagnoses/procedures when needed.
• Ensure coding quality and adherence to AHIMA guidelines and department standards.
• Collaborate with coding team and stakeholders to support timely, accurate coding.
