Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in a CAHIIM accredited program or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist coding programs.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters per guidelines.
• Review documentation and query physicians to clarify diagnoses or procedures.
• Maintain coding quality and compliance with AHIMA standards and hospital policy.
• Enter data in the encoder and EPIC/EHR systems and ensure correct physician identification.
• Collaborate with coding team and stakeholders to support timely AR goals.
• Utilize coding software and abstracting tools to ensure data accuracy.
