Houston Methodist is seeking an Inpatient Coder to ensure accurate diagnostic and procedure coding for inpatient encounters based on documentation in the electronic medical record.

The role requires an AHIMA credential (RHIT/RHIA/CCS) or equivalent experience, an associate degree or higher in CAHIIM accredited programs, and one year of inpatient coding experience or completion of the Coding Apprentice/Transition programs.

Qualificações

• Associate’s degree or higher in a CAHIIM accredited program or additional two years of experience in lieu of degree.
• One year of relevant inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist Coding Apprentice Program or similar transition program.
• Must have one of the following certifications: RHIT, RHIA, or CCS.

Responsabilidades

• Assigns accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient encounters based on documentation.
• Ensures coding compliance with official guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Queries physicians to clarify diagnoses/procedures when needed.
• Maintains high quality of data in the encoder/EHR and coding systems.
