Veterans Affairs Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is seeking a Ward Medical Support Assistant to provide administrative support within the Patient Administration Section.

The role includes receptionist duties, patient movement processing, and scheduling for inpatients and related services. The position is entry level with guidance from experienced staff, requiring tact and strong communication to support veterans during hospital stays and ensure accurate, timely information flow.

Qualifications

• Entry level position with training from more experienced staff.
• Supports administrative tasks within the Patient Administration Section (PAS) of HAS at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
• Performs receptionist duties, patient scheduling, and data entry in accordance with VA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Receives patients and handles check-in/check-out processes.
• Schedules tests, procedures, and appointments for admitted patients.
• Coordinates with operating room and ambulatory care services to ensure accurate schedules.
• Updates the Bed Management System and patient demographics to ensure accurate records.
• Maintains patient privacy per privacy rules and VA regulations.
