Job summary

Boston Medical Center - Brighton is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Psychiatric unit (5 West). The role is 24 hours per week with a schedule including every third weekend, 7 am to 7:30 pm. Responsibilities include delivering evidence-based nursing care, coordinating with the care team, and maintaining patient records.

Required are Massachusetts RN licensure and a nursing degree (Diploma/ASN/BSN; BSN within 4 years preferred). ACLS due within 90 days of hire; BLS is also required.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); BSN within 4 years.
• 1+ years of Inpatient Behavioral Health RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification; ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS certificate preferred or completed during orientation.
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records preferred.
• Fluency in another language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the psychiatric inpatient setting, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education of patients.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by SEMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
