Job summary

Boston Medical Center - Brighton is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Psychiatric unit (5 West). The role is 24 hours per week, days, 7:00 a.m.

to 7:30 p.m., with opportunities to advance clinical practice and education within a supportive team. The RN will deliver comprehensive mental health nursing care, communicate with patients and families, maintain accurate records, and participate in quality initiatives while pursuing BSN per timeline.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred).
• Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
• 1+ years of Inpatient Behavioral Health RN experience preferred.
• BLS/ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS certificate preferred and/or completed during orientation.
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health record preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the psychiatric inpatient setting including assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education of patients.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow guidelines and policies established by SEMC’s nursing organization.
• Assist leadership in quality improvement projects.
