Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will repair, maintain, install and troubleshoot industrial equipment, following blueprints and engineering specs. Duties include boiler and wastewater testing, safety checks, and CMMS recordkeeping.

The role emphasizes hands-on training, overtime potential, and a path toward career growth within a large garment services organization. Strong teamwork and safety focus are central to the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance literature in English.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery, electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic systems and components.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precise measuring and testing tools.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pretreatment testing and adjust chemicals as required.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on boilers and perform repairs as needed.
• Record meter readings and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Perform daily/weekly location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters and perform maintenance per procedures.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts per manual.
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
