Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our UniFirst community. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems and components in a Monday–Friday schedule with periodic night and weekend overtime.

On-the-job training is provided to help you grow. You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints and schematics, and perform safety checks on boilers and industrial equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A two-year technical degree is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are required.
• Minimum 6 months of experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Overtime work may be required.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools and precision measurement devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and engineering specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precision instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical tests and wastewater pre-treatment adjustments.
• Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and make repairs.
• Record and analyze utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform daily and weekly location/system safety checks.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters.
• Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
