Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team in supporting industrial equipment maintenance, installation and troubleshooting. The role emphasizes safe operation, adherence to schematics, and preventive maintenance within a fast-paced environment.

You’ll use hand/power tools, read blueprints, and work with a CMMS while performing safety checks and routine repairs. Training and on-the-job development are part of the path at UniFirst.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• 6 months of experience repairing industrial equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience.
• Overtime availability.
• Lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement devices and testing equipment.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using measurements and tests.
• Test boiler chemical and wastewater pretreatment systems and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Perform boiler safety checks and make required repairs.
• Record meter readings and take corrective actions when needed.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on location/system and address concerns.
• Inspect belts, shafts, gears and lubricate moving parts as required.
• Operate the CMMS and perform other duties as assigned.
