Job summary

UniFirst seeks a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join the Maintenance Department, performing repairs, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment. The role requires reading schematics, performing safety and boiler tests, and using a CMMS, with on-the-job training provided.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a 2-year technical degree preferred, 6 months of relevant experience, and the ability to lift up to 80 lbs. Overtime may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read maintenance literature in English.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
• Lockout / Tagout experience required.
• Overtime availability required.
• Lifting up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize hand/power tools and testing devices to service equipment.
• Ensure safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals and specs.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using precision instruments.
• Test boiler chemical and wastewater pretreatment and log results.
• Perform boiler safety checks and repairs as needed.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Conduct daily and weekly safety checks on facilities.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids; replace filters per procedures.
• Lubricate moving parts and inspect gear components.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
