Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Tech I to join our team. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, with a standard Monday–Friday week and periodic overtime. On-the-job training is provided.

You will use hand tools, read blueprints, and operate safety-critical systems while maintaining logs and supporting maintenance objectives across the plant.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Minimum 6 months’ experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment test.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Overtime availability as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools, precision measurement tools, and testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and supplier instructions.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using precise instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing and adjust as needed.
• Conduct daily and weekly boiler safety checks and repairs.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluids, replace filters, and lubricate parts.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
