Job summary

UniFirst seeks a Maintenance Tech I to perform repairs, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment. The role includes boiler testing, preventative maintenance, and safety checks, with training provided on the job.

You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints, and maintain logs in our CMMS. A high school diploma or GED is required, plus 6 months of related experience and the ability to lift 80 lbs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 6 months repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment.
  • Must pass maintenance knowledge assessment test to be eligible for employment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; English maintenance literature reading is required.
  • Lockout / Tagout experience and basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand/power tools, measurement devices, and testing equipment.
  • Ensure safe operation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Follow blueprints, manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using precision instruments and observation.
  • Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment and adjust chemicals as needed.
  • Perform routine boiler safety checks and make repairs as necessary.
  • Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct daily/weekly safety checks on location and equipment; inspect components.
  • Inspect shafts, bearings, gears and lubricate as per procedures; use CMMS for records.
