Job summary

Stantec, a global design firm, seeks an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join the Energy and Resources consulting team. You will work within an integrated multidisciplinary design team across North America, supporting mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects.

You will lead and support design on diverse projects, with travel (~10%) to client sites and other Stantec offices, developing robust control strategies and effective field wiring, panels, and networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• Professional Engineering license or ability to become licensed.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design phases and start-up.
• Perform site work for investigations, scope validation, and construction support.
• Design instrumentation and control system concepts, diagrams, and documents.
• Develop PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with third‑party systems.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery.
