Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Pasadena, CA is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team.

You will contribute to multidisciplinary design, deliver I&C construction drawings, and design PLC/DCS/HMI architectures for mining, power, and oil & gas projects. The role offers opportunities to lead and support project delivery, collaborate with remote teams via MS Teams, and travel about 10% to client sites or other Stantec offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, well-organized work and to perform self-checks.

Responsibilities

• Engineering support for multidisciplinary projects through design phases and start-up.
• Site work for investigations, scope validation, and commissioning support.
• Lead the design and development of I&C construction drawings and instrument specifications.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with third-party systems.
• Design control/server rooms and network segregation; develop control philosophies and safety interlocks.
