Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team in the United States. You will work on multidisciplinary design projects across North America, including mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors.

The role involves both design and field support, with opportunities to lead and collaborate with remote teams. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5–10 years of relevant experience, and a professional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE eligibility or licensure.
• Experience in mining, heavy industry, or energy sectors is preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork and self‑management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support across studies from proposal through startup.
• Perform site investigations, scope validation and commissioning support.
• Lead I&C drawings, loop diagrams and instrument layouts with designers.
• Specify instrumentation and assist procurement through evaluations.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and system integrations.
• Develop control philosophies, safety interlocks and commissioning tests.
• Plan and design industrial networks and underground installation considerations.
• Coordinate CWPs, reviews, client meetings, and value engineering sessions.
