Job summary

Stantec in Atlanta, GA is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team. You will work within a multidisciplinary design group on mining, power, oil & gas projects across North America.

The role includes leading and supporting I&C design, PLC/DCS/SCADA architectures, instrument datasheets, and industrial networks, with travel up to 10% and opportunities to grow in a consulting environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University.
5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through detailed design, construction, commissioning and startup.
Perform site work including investigations, scope validation, construction and start-up support.
Lead the design and development of I&C drawings, instrument specifications, and datasheets.
Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integrate with third‑party systems.
Coordinate with internal teams and clients, vendors, and contractors; participate in design reviews and value engineering.
Travel to client sites as needed (~10%).
