Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team in the United States. You will contribute to multidisciplinary design across mining, oil & gas, power and renewable sectors, leading and supporting projects with global impact.

The role offers opportunities to advance technical leadership, collaborate with engineers and designers, and participate in site work and commissioning while leveraging a strong consulting framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• A Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).

Responsibilities

• Engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design phases (PFS, FS, detailed design, construction, commissioning).
• Site work including investigations, assessments, and start-up support.
• Lead the design and development of I&C drawings and specifications.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with third-party systems.
• Design control rooms, server rooms, and network infrastructure.
• Develop functional specifications, control logic, and safety interlocks.
• Perform calculations for I&C equipment and systems.
• Prepare technical specifications for industrial networks and underground installations.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, vendors and contractors.
