Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources consulting team. This role offers opportunities to lead and support I&C design across mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects in North America.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, develop control architectures (PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA), specify instrumentation, and contribute to project development from proposals through commissioning. Travel ~10% to client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited University.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.
• A Professional Engineering license (or the ability to become licensed).

Responsibilities

• Engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design phases.
• Site work including investigations, scope validation, construction and start-up support.
• Lead design and development of I&C drawings including diagrams and layouts.
• Specify instrumentation specifications and datasheets; support procurement and evaluations.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and third-party integrations.
• Plan and coordinate CWPs, reviews, and client meetings.
