Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve families across San Antonio, Hollywood Park and Bulverde, Texas. This doctor-led private practice offers autonomy and compassionate care delivered in the home.

The role emphasizes meaningful conversations about quality of life, end-of-life decisions, and comfort for pets, with no hospital overhead or corporate production pressure. Travel to homes is required, with full clinical autonomy.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the service state(s).
• Able to travel to client homes in assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and euthanasia services.
• Travel independently to scheduled home visits and work outside a traditional clinic.
• Perform physical examinations, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and related services.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions and end-of-life options with empathy.
• Maintain accurate veterinary records for each patient encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families and the veterinary team.
• Safely handle and move companion animals during visits.
• Demonstrate professionalism, clinical independence, and sound judgment in the field.

Education

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent

Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services will be provided

Valid U.S. driver's license
