Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring in-home hospice and euthanasia veterinarians to serve families in Westover Hills and Helotes, Texas. This role offers professional autonomy and meaningful relationships with families, in-home care, and the ability to practice compassionate end-of-life medicine in clients' homes.

As a mobile veterinarian, you will provide hospice, palliative care, and euthanasia with clinical judgment, while maintaining records and coordinating with the Heartstrings team.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services are provided.
• Valid U.S. drivers license and ability to travel between appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian.
• Strong empathy and professionalism in difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, pain management, and compassionate euthanasia within your service area.
• Travel independently to scheduled home visits and work in a mobile care environment outside a clinic.
• Perform physical exams, clinical assessments, medication administration, sedation, euthanasia, and other services as permitted.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life care, euthanasia, and aftercare considerations with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each encounter.
• Communicate professionally with families, Heartstrings team, scheduling, and referring veterinarians.
• Safely handle and assist with movement of companion animals during visits.
• Demonstrate professionalism, independence, and reliable medical judgment in field work.
