Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring In-Home Hospice and Euthanasia Veterinarians to serve pet families throughout San Antonio, Hollywood Park & Bulverde, Texas.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited program.
• Active veterinary license in the state(s) where services are provided.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel to in-home appointments.
• Ability to work independently as a mobile veterinarian while staying connected with Heartstrings teams.
• Strong communication skills for end-of-life conversations with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home pet hospice, palliative care, quality-of-life support, and compassionate euthanasia within designated service areas.
• Travel to scheduled appointments and operate in a mobile veterinary care setting.
• Perform physical exams, clinical assessments, sedation, euthanasia, and related veterinary services within regulatory scope.
• Educate families on quality-of-life decisions, end-of-life options, and aftercare considerations with empathy.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient encounter.
• Collaborate professionally with families, Heartstrings teams, and referring veterinarians.
• Handle and assist with movement of companion animals during in-home visits.
• Demonstrate professionalism, independence, and reliable clinical judgment in the field.
