People Freight | Freight Forwarding & Logistics Recruitment Specialists in Itasca, Illinois is seeking an Import Coordinator to join a hybrid team. You will coordinate Air & Ocean Import shipments from origin to delivery, ensuring documentation is accurate and on time.

The role offers a hybrid environment and a salary up to $75,000 based on experience. You will work with overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers and customers, monitor shipments, and handle customs clearance and invoicing while

Qualifications

• 3+ years in U.S. freight forwarding/import experience required.
• Experience with Air & Ocean Import and documentation processes.
• Familiarity with customs brokers, carriers and overseas agents.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational abilities.
• Experience using CargoWise or similar software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Air & Ocean Import shipments from booking to final delivery.
• Handle arrival notices, BOLs, invoices and packing lists.
• Communicate with overseas agents, carriers, and warehouses.
• Track shipments and provide regular customer updates.
• Arrange customs clearance and final delivery.
• Maintain accurate shipment records in the operating system.

Import Coordinator | Itasca, Illinois | Hybrid working environment

You will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day import shipments, working closely with overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and customers to ensure shipments move efficiently and documentation is accurate and completed on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate Air & Ocean Import shipments from booking through final delivery
• Handle arrival notices, shipment documentation, BOLs, commercial invoices and packing lists
• Coordinate with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers and warehouses
• Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays or issues
• Arrange customs clearance and final delivery
• Track shipments and provide customers with regular updates
• Review import documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Prepare and process invoices and shipment-related documentation
• Maintain accurate shipment records within the company’s operating system
• Communicate with customers and internal teams to ensure a high level of service
• Assist with resolving operational and documentation discrepancies

Requirements

• 3+ years of U.S. freight forwarding / import experience
• Strong Air & Ocean Import experience preferred
• Solid understanding of the U.S. import process and documentation
• Experience working with customs brokers, carriers and overseas agents
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Experience with CargoWise or similar freight forwarding software preferred
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team
