Job summary

People Freight seeks an Ocean Export Coordinator in Wood Dale, Illinois for a hybrid role. You will manage ocean export shipments from booking through final departure, coordinating with carriers, overseas agents, and customers to ensure timely, accurate documentation and high service levels.

You’ll handle Bills of Lading, AES filings, shipping instructions, and invoicing, while maintaining accurate shipment data in our system and supporting internal teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of ocean export freight forwarding experience.
• Strong knowledge of international ocean export procedures.
• Experience handling shipments from booking to final departure.
• Familiarity with export documentation and U.S. export requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage ocean export shipments from A–Z, from initial booking through final departure.
• Coordinate bookings with ocean carriers and overseas agents.
• Prepare and process export documentation, including Bills of Lading, AES filings, and shipping instructions.
• Arrange cargo pickups and coordinate with trucking companies, warehouses, and terminals.
• Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to customers.
• Handle shipment exceptions, delays, and operational issues.
• Prepare and review shipping documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas offices, and internal departments.
• Enter and maintain shipment information within the company's operating system.
• Prepare quotations and assist with customer rate requests when required.
• Ensure accurate invoicing and completion of files.
• Provide a high level of customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle.
