Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services is seeking an experienced Import Coordinator to manage international shipments from booking to delivery and container return. This hands-on role coordinates with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, truckers and internal teams while juggling multiple shipments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery.
• Communicate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and trucking partners.
• Request and compare freight rates and coordinate bookings.
• Manage import documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and ISF-related documentation.
• Track containers and proactively address delays, holds and changing timelines.
• Coordinate drayage and monitor pickup and return deadlines.
• Help minimize demurrage, detention and other avoidable freight costs.
• Maintain accurate shipment information in the ERP system.
• Keep internal teams informed and updated throughout the process.

International freight rarely goes exactly according to plan.

Containers get delayed. Documentation needs attention. Timelines shift. Costs can climb quickly if someone isn’t staying ahead of the details.

We’re looking for an experienced Import Coordinator who enjoys keeping all of those moving pieces on track.

This is a hands‑on international logistics role responsible for coordinating import shipments from booking through delivery and container return. You’ll work with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, truckers and internal teams while managing multiple shipments at once.

What you’ll be doing:

• Coordinate ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery
• Communicate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and trucking partners
• Request and compare freight rates and coordinate bookings
• Manage import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and ISF‑related documentation
• Track containers and proactively address delays, holds and changing timelines
• Coordinate drayage and monitor pickup and return deadlines
• Help minimize demurrage, detention and other avoidable freight costs
• Maintain accurate shipment information in the ERP system
• Keep internal teams informed and updated throughout the process

What we’re looking for:

Direct import or international logistics experience is strongly preferred. Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean carriers, ports and containerized freight is especially valuable.
