Ocean Import Coordinator | Naperville, Illinois | Hybrid work schedule
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Ocean Import Coordinator to join their growing freight forwarding team in Naperville, Illinois. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to work both remotely and in-office while managing the full cycle of ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery.
Base Pay Range
$68,000.00/yr - $68,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage end-to-end ocean import shipments (FCL and LCL)
- Track cargo movement from origin through final delivery and proactively resolve issues
- Prepare, review, and process import documentation including bills of lading, arrival notices, ISF, and delivery orders
- Communicate with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, truckers, and warehouses
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations
- Monitor shipment milestones and provide timely updates to customers
- Verify freight rates, review invoices, and ensure accurate billing
- Maintain accurate shipment records in the company’s TMS/operating system
- Deliver exceptional customer service while meeting deadlines and service level expectations
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in ocean import operations within a freight forwarding environment
- Strong knowledge of ocean import documentation and customs compliance
- Familiarity with Incoterms, ISF filing, and CBP regulations
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid setting and collaborate with a team
