Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. You’ll plan and monitor progress, work with teachers on classroom activities, and support school-wide initiatives.

Training is provided, with ongoing support from partner teachers and staff throughout the year. You will participate in 2–4 weeks of initial training and collaborate with a dedicated team to create a safe, engaging learning

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at start.
• Ability to work with partner teachers and school staff throughout the program.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to boost academic success.
• Support literacy and/or math skill-building with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and review data.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support school-wide initiatives and after-school programming for student engagement.
