Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will focus on academic success, attendance, and positive school behaviors, planning progress and supporting teachers in class activities.

As part of City Year, you will receive initial training, then ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff to implement engaging student programs and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring not required; 2-4 weeks of training at start of year.
• Ability to support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Willingness to collaborate with teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop reading or math activities to support student progress.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Foster an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with teachers.
