Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member serves as a student success coach and mentor in schools, focusing on coaching and mentoring students to improve academics, attendance and behavior. You will plan and monitor individual progress and work with teachers on class instruction and in-class student support. Experience is not required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

You will join partner teachers and staff to support students before, during, and after school. Eligibility includes U.S.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Plus, you will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class student assistance.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups; vary literacy and math activities by student level; encourage assignment completion.
• Create and implement behavior management systems; develop interpersonal skills throughout the day; collaborate with teachers to collect, analyze and monitor progress.
