Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time position focused on coaching and mentoring students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior in classrooms and schools.

As part of City Year AmeriCorps, you will receive 2–4 weeks of training, supervision by teachers, and opportunities to participate in school-wide initiatives and service programs while earning a living allowance through AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Age 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Background check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skills through targeted activities.
• Develop behavior management plans for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and data.
• Create an engaging and safe classroom space.
• Support school initiatives and after-school programs.
