Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps is hiring Reading Tutors to help students become strong readers in local schools. You will work in pairs for daily 20 minutes of focused reading practice, guided by a school coach and data tracking tools.

Positions run during the 2026-27 school year with daytime, weekday hours. AmeriCorps stipend plus benefits, including health insurance and education assistance, support your service.

Qualifications

• Dependable and have a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult who's focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
