Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps seeks a Reading Tutor to work in local schools, delivering proven activities and coaching students to become confident readers. You will participate in training and grow with the program while making a measurable impact.

Each school day involves working with pairs for 20 minutes of reading practice, tracking progress, and coordinating with on-site coaches. This AmeriCorps role includes a stipend and education award options.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and adapt based on feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer use (email, online navigation).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• 18+ with HS diploma or equivalent; US citizen or eligible.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
