Job summary
Ampact's Reading Corps is seeking Reading Tutors to help students become stronger readers at a local school. You will be trained to deliver proven activities and coached every step of the way as you tutor pairs for 20 minutes each school day.
This AmeriCorps role offers a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks, with benefits including health insurance, child care assistance, and college education support. Positions run August 2026–June 2027, with 35 hours weekly or 20 hours part-time options.
Qualifications
- Dependable with a history of good attendance.
- Able to follow instructions and adjust based on feedback.
- Proficient with basic computer skills (email and online navigation).
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading and writing).
- 18+ years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Able to successfully complete a background check.
Responsibilities
- Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
- Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to provide support.
- Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
- Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
- Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
- Share your experience with the community.
