Job summary

Preferred Behavioral Health of New Jersey is seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist for the Lawrenceville area. The role draws on lived experience to provide outreach, advocacy, and support to families affected by substance use disorders.

A recovery-based approach guides engagement, goal setting, and linkage to community resources. Responsibilities include developing recovery plans, assisting with daily living skills, and collaborating with families and case workers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• At least 2 years of sustained recovery
• Must pass pre-employment drug test and background check

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach, engagement, and advocacy for individuals with substance use disorders
• Develop a Recovery Plan with culturally competent services and measurable objectives
• Attend Family Team Meetings and participate in case consultations with stakeholders
• Educate parents/caregivers on navigating treatment, social services, and recovery supports
