Job summary

CarePlus NJ, Inc. is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist in Passaic County for a full-time on-site role. You will support clients by leveraging your own recovery experience to coordinate with case managers, clinicians, and prescribers to craft personalized recovery plans and provide ongoing support.

The position emphasizes training, collaboration, and education to help clients navigate treatment and social services, with a focus on sustaining recovery for up to a year.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individuals in improving their health and wellness.
• At least two (2) years in active recovery from a substance use disorder.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandated training to delineate peer role functions, competencies, and responsibilities.
• Develop a Recovery Plan in collaboration with the individual, case manager, clinician, and/or prescriber.
• Educate individuals on navigating treatment, social service, and recovery support systems.
• Provide recovery support services based on individual needs and preferences.
• Work with the case manager to ensure engagement in services for up to a year.
• Reinforce and encourage recovery as a realistic, strength-based journey.

Education
