Job summary

Preferred Behavioral Health Group in New Jersey is seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist for the Warren area. The role draws on lived experience to deliver hope and recovery messaging to individuals with substance use disorders through outreach, service linkages, and advocacy.

You will provide direct services such as outreach, transportation, in-home support, and linkage to community resources; you may also support caregivers and coordinate recovery plans with measurable goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Knowledge of addictions preferred.
• At least 2 continuous years of sustained recovery.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces and guides parents/caregivers toward recovery using their strengths and resources.
• Assists parents/caregivers with gaining skills and resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery.
• Assists in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery.
• Enhances identification and participation in the recovery community.
• Empowers parents/caregivers to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathway.
• Develops a Recovery Plan with culturally competent services that identify goals, assess strengths, and monitor progress.
• Attend Family Team Meetings and collaborate with DCP&P case workers and others as requested.
