Job summary

CarePlus New Jersey seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist to support clients by applying personal recovery experience to help others. You will coordinate with case managers, clinicians, and prescribers to craft individualized recovery plans and provide ongoing support within collaborative care teams.

The role emphasizes training, education on treatment navigation, and continuation of services for up to a year, with a focus on empowering clients through recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency.
• Two years of experience in guiding principles of recovery.
• At least two years in active recovery from a substance use disorder.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by agency.

Responsibilities

• Attend mandated training to delineate peer role functions, competencies and responsibilities.
• Collaborate with the individual, case manager, clinician and/or prescriber to develop a Recovery Plan.
• Educate individuals on navigating treatment, social services and recovery support systems.
• Provide recovery support services based on individual needs and preferences.
• Work with the case manager to ensure engagement in services for up to a year.
• Reinforce that recovery is possible and supported by strengths and resources.
