Job summary

Oak Street Health is seeking a Medical Assistant in Garland, TX to support providers with patient information, screenings and routine tests. You will help ensure smooth patient flow, conduct vital signs, document results in EMR, and assist in care team coordination in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, processing specimens, and assisting with vaccinations. State certification, 1 year MA experience, and US work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• State or national certification (as required by state) or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course.
• 1 year experience as a medical assistant.
• CPR or BLS Certification.
• Electronic Medical Record experience.
• Computer skills: Gmail, MS Word/Google Docs, Excel/Sheets.
• Proficiency in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics.
• US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients, take vital signs, complete screenings and medication reviews.
• Inventory supplies and restock exam rooms.
• Respond to patient requests for telephonic support (lab results, record transfers).
• Administer vaccinations and perform point-of-care tests as allowed by state regulations.
• Import documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload.
• Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and operations.
• Process orders for durable medical equipment.
• Request medical records from external providers as required.
