Job summary

Goodwill of Central Michigan’s Heartland, Inc. in Battle Creek, MI is seeking an Intake Specialist who will be the first friendly face for participants seeking services. You’ll welcome visitors, collect intake information, assess needs, and connect people with programs and staff.

You’ll also support walk-ins, calls, and referrals, maintain confidential records, perform front desk duties, and assist with data entry and reporting to support mission services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of one year of customer service, intake coordination, administrative support, or human services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary intake contact for walk-in visits, calls, emails, and online submissions.
• Conduct initial screenings and needs assessments to identify goals, barriers, and service needs.
• Explain programs and services clearly and refer to appropriate staff.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals with Mission Services staff.
• Enter participant information into databases and prepare intake packets.
• Provide front desk coverage, greet visitors, and answer phones.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
