Job description

A well-regarded law firm is seeking a Remote Immigration Attorney licensed in Puerto Rico to join its immigration practice. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while managing a full caseload that includes both detained and non-detained clients. The attorney will represent individuals in immigration court, handle USCIS filings, and collaborate closely with a legal support team. This is a growth-oriented position for attorneys looking to expand their practice in a supportive and dynamic legal environment.

Duties
  1. Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  2. Conduct virtual and in-person consultations to develop tailored immigration strategies
  3. Prepare and submit a wide range of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and humanitarian relief
  4. Visit detention centers, as needed, for client intakes and case evaluations
  5. Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documents
  6. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and community organizations on immigration law updates
  7. Guide clients and witnesses in preparation for USCIS interviews and court testimony
  8. Maintain accurate case records, manage deadlines, and ensure timely case progression
  9. Provide legal analysis on complex immigration matters to identify potential relief options
Requirements
  1. 3–5 years of experience practicing immigration law
  2. Experience representing clients in EOIR proceedings and preparing USCIS filings
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload independently
  4. Comfortable working remotely and using virtual communication tools
  5. Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)
Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

Active bar membership in Puerto Rico or another U.S. jurisdiction (must reside in Puerto Rico)

Skills
  1. Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and research skills
  2. Excellent interpersonal and client communication skills
  3. Familiarity with immigration forms, procedures, and deadlines
  4. Proficiency in immigration case management software (preferred)
  5. Highly organized and capable of multitasking in a remote work setting
