Job description

A law firm seeks a skilled and compassionate Immigration Attorney to join its team remotely in San Juan, PR. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3-5 years of immigration law experience who is ready to manage a diverse caseload and collaborate with a dedicated immigration team. The role involves representing individuals in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and providing legal guidance on complex immigration matters. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on immigration issues and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including both detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of immigration cases.
  • Conduct client intakes and provide legal representation for detained individuals at immigration centers.
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including family-based immigration petitions and removal defense.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on changes in immigration law.
  • Consult with potential clients to develop strategies and advise on the best course of action.
  • Develop case strategies, prepare clients, and conduct witness preparation for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits of cases for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Proven track record of managing immigration cases and advancing them through various stages.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained clients, Citizenship matters, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to provide clear legal analysis and guidance to clients and stakeholders.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent case management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think critically and strategize effectively in complex legal matters.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and accuracy in legal filings.
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely while being part of a larger team.
