A law firm seeks a skilled and compassionate Immigration Attorney to join its team remotely in San Juan, PR. The role involves representing individuals in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and providing legal guidance on complex immigration matters. Duties:
- Provide legal counsel to clients on immigration issues and present strategic solutions.
- Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including both detained and non-detained individuals.
- Manage and prioritize a caseload of immigration cases.
- Conduct client intakes and provide legal representation for detained individuals at immigration centers.
- Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including family-based immigration petitions and removal defense.
- Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
- Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on changes in immigration law.
- Consult with potential clients to develop strategies and advise on the best course of action.
- Develop case strategies, prepare clients, and conduct witness preparation for court or USCIS testimony.
- Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits of cases for clients.
- Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law.
- Proven track record of managing immigration cases and advancing them through various stages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained clients, Citizenship matters, and other USCIS applications.
- Familiarity with case management software preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
- Ability to provide clear legal analysis and guidance to clients and stakeholders.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico.
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico.
