Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation in Sioux City is seeking a Specialist to deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. You will assist customers with licenses and IDs, explain REAL ID requirements, and conduct examinations to ensure proper eligibility and issuance.

The role involves office and outside duties, with training and support to maintain high customer satisfaction. Hours are 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with occasional in-state travel as needed, and a comprehensive benefits package is

Qualifications

Graduation from high school (or GED) is required.
Three years of full-time clerical or closely-related work experience or education as described (three years total).
Current continuous experience in the state executive branch may qualify for this role.

Responsibilities

Act as a point of contact for customer questions through phones, driving tests, or issuing licenses/IDs.
Provide expert knowledge of license eligibility, REAL ID standards, and document issuance.
Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL pre-trip, skills, and road exams.
Review state and federal records to determine issuance eligibility.
Support teammates through knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring.
