Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist focused on exceptional customer service for Iowans seeking licenses and IDs. The role blends office and field duties, handling inquiries, licensing eligibility, and examination administration to keep customers mobile and compliant with REAL ID standards.

In a fast-paced environment, you will review records, follow procedures, and mentor teammates while maintaining schedules and delivering quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required plus clerical/related experience or college credits as described.
• Experience in a state agency or DMV-type environment is beneficial.
• Must obtain required certifications and training after hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for questions via phone or in person and issue licenses/IDs.
• Provide expert knowledge on license eligibility, REAL ID requirements, and document eligibility.
• Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL exams.
• Review state and federal records to determine eligibility for issuance.
• Support teammates through training and mentoring.
