Job summary

Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced setting. You will manage licensing, IDs, and examinations, applying REAL ID standards and guiding applicants through eligibility rules.

Responsibilities include scoring various driving tests, reviewing records for issuance decisions, and supporting teammates with knowledge sharing and training as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years of clerical or related work.
• Experience in state government is a plus and understanding of records checks.
• Background checks required, including state and federal screenings.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and assist customers with questions and inquiries.
• Conduct driving tests and issue licenses and IDs.
• Provide expert knowledge on license eligibility and REAL ID requirements.
• Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL exams.
• Review state and federal records to determine eligibility for issuance.
