Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver & Identification Service Center Specialist to help customers obtain licenses and IDs, answer questions, and ensure accurate eligibility determinations. You will administer driving tests, review motor vehicle records, and contribute to a high-volume, service-driven team while upholding Real ID standards and state policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of clerical or closely-related work experience? can meet via education/experience.
• Six months of experience as a Driver & Identification Service Center Associate in state executive branch.

Responsibilities

• Act as point of contact for customer questions and inquiries (phones, driving tests, licenses/IDs).
• Provide expert knowledge of license eligibility and identification requirements based on REAL ID standards.
• Administer and score motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL pre-trip, skills, and road driving examinations.
• Review state and federal records to determine issuance eligibility.
• Support teammates through knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring.
